Stand Firm

I was deeply saddened to hear about a pastor, that I have known for years and worked alongside in ministry, claiming to have left the Lord and has "deconstructed". He is now on social media encouraging others to do the same. Heartbreaking.

Please hear me on this: Do not allow this apostasy to shake your faith.

Even the great apostle Paul faced similar heartbreak. Paul speaks about people who deserted him and turned away from the faith. Yet he urged Timothy to stay strong, hold firmly to sound teaching, and guard the truth that had been entrusted to him. (2 Timothy 1:13–14)

I want to take a moment to reassure you of something very important. I remain 1000% committed to the Lord Jesus Christ and to the glorious plan of salvation that God has made available to us through His shed blood on the cross. I have absolutely no doubt that this is the real truth and the only way to heaven and eternal life.

By God’s grace, I have followed the Lord Jesus now for more than 55 years—and I say with confidence and a full heart, that in all those years, He has never once let me down. And I promise you this: He will not let you down either. Praise the Lord!

Over the years, I have had the privilege of leading more than a hundred trips to the Holy Land and other places connected to the Bible. Again and again, we have seen archaeological discoveries that confirm the historical reliability of Scripture. As I love to say: “The more they dig out of the ground, the more the Bible proves to be right.”

Every shovel of dirt seems to remind us that God’s Word stands firm and is true.

That’s why I often encourage people with a simple word picture: Ride the Bible like a surfboard into eternity. Trust it. Stand on it. Build your life upon it. If you do, you will never regret it. As the Bible says: “And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son… I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life.” 1 John 5:11–13

If the apostle Paul were standing here today, I believe he would say the exact same thing to you: Do not be discouraged by those who walk away. Pray for them.

As for you, be encouraged, my friends. Stand firm. Keep your eyes on Jesus. Stay anchored in the Word of God. And remember that the truth of the gospel has stood the test of centuries—and it will stand forever.
