Where the Healing Begins

In the fall of 1969, during my junior year at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, my girlfriend became pregnant.

I knew that I was clearly the father, but as an unbeliever with no moral compass, I forced her to have an abortion. This was one of the most despicable and regrettable choices of my life.

But God.

When I became a Christian, some 18 months later, Jesus came into my life and forgave me of ALL my sin. Past, present and future! The Bible says in 1 John 1:9 that ….”if we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from ALL unrighteousness!”

Not only are we forgiven when we come to Christ, but God takes our sin away. Psalm 103:12 says….”He has removed our sins as far from us as the east is from the west.”  Don’t hold on to it when God doesn’t.

Lastly, God does not remember our sin. In Isaiah 43:25 it says…”I, even I, am he who blots out your transgressions, for my own sake, and remembers your sins no more.”  How amazing is that?

Are you hurting over, regretting or revisiting sin (past or present) in your life? If you are a follower of Christ, then you need to trust and believe what God says in the Bible about our sin:

He forgave it, He removed it and He does not remember it!

God’s grace, mercy and forgiveness, by way of Jesus, means that we no longer have to carry the burden or guilt of our sin. Jesus covered it all on the cross.

And that is where the healing begins.
